Sri Lankan Beef Rolls
📝 Ingredients
Boiled Beef
• 375 g beef
• Water
• ½ tsp salt
• ¼ tsp turmeric
• ¼ tsp black pepper
Filling
• 250 g potatoes, boiled & mashed
• 2½ onions, finely chopped
• ¾ cup leeks, chopped
• 2–3 green chillies, chopped
• ½ tbsp ginger-garlic paste
• Curry leaves (optional)
• Pandan leaves (optional)
• ¼ tsp turmeric
• ½ tsp chilli powder
• ¾ tsp black pepper
• ½ tbsp chilli flakes
• Salt to taste
• 2 tbsp oil
Pancake (Wrapper)
• 2½ cups all-purpose flour
• 2 eggs
• 2½ cups water
• ½ tsp salt
Coating & Frying
• 2–3 tbsp flour + water (slurry)
• Breadcrumbs
• Oil for frying
👩🍳 Simple Method
1️⃣ Boil beef
Boil beef with salt, turmeric, pepper, until soft.
Cool and shred.
2️⃣ Make filling
Heat oil. Add curry leaves, pandan leaves, and green chillies.
Add onions and cook until soft.
Add ginger-garlic, beef, spices, leeks, and salt.
Mix in potatoes and cook till dry. Finish with chilli flakes. Cool.
3️⃣ Make pancakes
Mix all batter ingredients.
Cook thin pancakes on low heat. Do not brown.
4️⃣ Assemble
Add filling to pancake. Roll tightly. Seal with slurry or water.
5️⃣ Coat & fry
Dip in slurry, then breadcrumbs.
Deep fry till golden.
